Alvechurch 3-0 Needham Market

Church claim impressive win
Alvechurch eased past Needham Market to pick up their third win in a row at Lye Meadow.
Goals from Luke Yates, Joshua Ezwele, and Tom Turton gave Ian Long’s side their third win in a week.
Both sides have made good starts to the season, with newly promoted Alvechurch sitting in 12th place and Needham just outside the play-off places. From the get go, it was the home side who grabbed a hold of the game creating a flurry of chances.
Yates fired wide from the edge of the box, while Josh March’s snapshot hit the post. However, good build-up play saw Alvechurch deservedly take the lead; as Yates poked home a Zack Foster cross.
March, who was a constant nuisance to the Needham defence all day, then fired wide before being denied by a brilliant save from Jake Marsden Jessup.
Needham ended the half strongly however, with Joseph Marsden firing over and being denied by Matthew Sargeant in the Alvechurch goal. Despite this though, they went into the break two goals down; as Ezwele beat three men and slotted home via the post.
In the second half Alvechurch continued their dominance. March hit the post, while Yates fired wide. Mitch Botfield then saw a shot saved by Jessup; before Alvechurch got a third.
Yates was brought down by Jessup in the box; allowing Turton to seal the win from the penalty spot.
The win was one Long will be pleased with, as his side outclassed Needham with clever short passing and he will be hoping for a similar performance when Bromsgrove Sporting re-visit Lye Meadow in the League cup.
