Alvechurch 0-3 Tamworth
Church fall to defeat
Alvechurch suffered a second consecutive defeat as Tamworth taught them a lesson in finishing at Lye Meadow.
Goals from Gregg Smith, Chris Lait, and Michael Taylor secured the win for the visitors but Alvechurch manager Ian Long will be frustrated with the chances his side missed.
The first of these chances came in the third minute, with Andre Landell's header being tipped over the bar by Jas Singh. Landell then fired wide of the goal ten minutes later, before again being denied by Singh in the Tamworth goal.
Rahis Nabi then fired over from range, before Dave Bellis went inches wide with a superb effort from the edge of the box. Meanwhile, Fortune Maphosa forced Alvechurch debutant Dan Crane into a save as the half ended.
The second half started with more missed chances although this time it was for Tamworth with Lait firing over when through on goal. Aaron Llyod then fired over from a corner and this miss proved crucial as Tamworth took advantage, with Smith heading the ball in. Lee Chilton then hit the post before Tamworth sealed the win. First Lait's free-kick evaded everyone to go in and then Michael Taylor poked home from a corner.
The game also saw a lengthy delay near the end of the match with Singh needing treatment on a gash sustained saving from Tristian Dunkley, before being stretchered off.
The result might have been harsh on Church considering the chances, but they will be hoping to bounce back when they travel to Banbury United on New Years Day.
