Alvechurch 1-1 Banbury United

Church secure play-off place
James Roberts's stunning strike earned Alvechurch the point they needed to guarantee a play-off place; against Banbury United.
The result means that Church's dreams of a third promotion in a row is still a possibility; although they ended their home campaign in less than spectacular game.
Giorgio Rasulo forced Charlie Price into an early save before Banbury took the lead within the first twelve minutes. A long throw into the box was not dealt with and Amer Awadh volleyed the ball into the back of the net.
Church responded quickly however, with through Roberts. The striker picked up the ball and from 25 yards out curled it past Jack Harding in the Banbury goal via the post for his fifth Church goal in six games. This proved to be the last real chance of the first half with both side's struggling to create chances. Kieran Cook fired wide while Awadh shot over the bar to end the half.
In the second half Alvechurch got on the ball a lot more but were unable to break down a well organised Banbury defence. Roberts had a shot saved and fired wide, while Mitch Botfield went close from distance. Banbury also had chances but Matthew Taylor, Charlie Wise, and Ricky Johnson were all unable to hit the target as the game finished in a stalemate.
With Stourbridge and Kings Lynn drawing it means that any hopes Church had of finishing third or higher are now gone. They will however, be looking to solidify fourth place next week away to Needham Market.
