Still living in his hometown, Charlie left Coventry City and moved on to Northampton Town, where he made his professional debut for “The Cobblers”. Woods faced Brighton & Hove Albion Under 21s in the EFL Trophy at Sixfields in November 2021. 1,014 watched on from the stands as Charlie kept the Seagulls at bay for over 70 minutes, smartly denying Evan Ferguson, who, eventually found a way past the shot-stopper for his first competitive goal.

As well as Northampton Town, Charlie can also count Ipswich Town amongst professional clubs on his CV. The Tractor Boys scooped the keeper up for a spell in the 2022/2023 season, after his first spell with Quorn, and a stint with Barwell. Woods has also represented former UCL Premier Division opponents Northampton O.N. Chenecks as well as a spell on loan with Bury Town.

Dan Sweeney had a brief spell with Alvechurch in the 2023/2024 season and some would say that he was the key to turning the season around. Dan's first game for Church saw him single-handedly swing the game in our fortune with a four-minute hat-trick against Malvern Town in the Worcestershire Senior Cup.

The hat-trick saw Church progress to the semi-final of the trophy before eventually going on to win the cup. Sweeney then netted the winner in the biggest game of the season with a 91st minute winner against AFC Sudbury to lift the Church out of the relegation zone. The victory was the kickstart of a crazy run of just 1 defeat in 12 games to give Church some daylight at the foot of the table.

Dan Sweeney now returns to Alvechurch looking to continue where he left of after netting 6 goals in 6 games in the colours of Amber and Black.
