Want to get to know your latest faces at the club?

Alvechurch have secured five new faces but also had three players from the 2023/2024 season return to take on the challenge that Jimmy Fry and his coaching team have set for what is set to be a promising campaign...

We will go in the order that we announced...

CHARLIE WOODS:
Age: 19
Position: Goalkeeper

Previous Clubs:
- Coventry City
- Northampton Town
- Northampton O.N. Chenecks
- Barwell FC
- Ipswich Town
- Bury Town
- Quorn FC

Still living in his hometown, Charlie left Coventry City and moved on to Northampton Town, where he made his professional debut for “The Cobblers”. Woods faced Brighton & Hove Albion Under 21s in the EFL Trophy at Sixfields in November 2021. 1,014 watched on from the stands as Charlie kept the Seagulls at bay for over 70 minutes, smartly denying Evan Ferguson, who, eventually found a way past the shot-stopper for his first competitive goal.

As well as Northampton Town, Charlie can also count Ipswich Town amongst professional clubs on his CV. The Tractor Boys scooped the keeper up for a spell in the 2022/2023 season, after his first spell with Quorn, and a stint with Barwell. Woods has also represented former UCL Premier Division opponents Northampton O.N. Chenecks as well as a spell on loan with Bury Town.

Charlie Woods joins Alvechurch Football Club from Quorn FC and is rated as a very exciting, and talented goalkeeper. We look forward to seeing Charlie Woods in action at Lye Meadow in-front of the home faithful.

TYRONE BARNETT:
Age: 38
Position: Striker

The striker has made 506 appearances, scoring in 115 and registering 28 assists in his time so far as a professional footballer.

He has a full set of EFL experience having made 275 appearances between Sky Bet League One (119) and Two (156). Barnett describes himself as an 'athletic target man' forward, able to use his athleticism to get on the end of a cross and his strength to hold the ball up. In February 2012, Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson said that Barnett was "technically very good, has decent pace and he is one of the best strikers in the air that I have seen for a while".

We look forward to seeing Tyrone pull on an Alvechurch shirt.

DAN SWEENEY:

Dan's first game for Church saw him single-handedly swing the game in our fortune with a four-minute hat-trick against Malvern Town in the Worcestershire Senior Cup.

The hat-trick saw Church progress to the semi-final of the trophy before eventually going on to win the cup. Sweeney then netted the winner in the biggest game of the season with a 91st minute winner against AFC Sudbury to lift the Church out of the relegation zone. The victory was the kickstart of a crazy run of just 1 defeat in 12 games to give Church some daylight at the foot of the table.

Dan Sweeney now returns to Alvechurch looking to continue where he left of after netting 6 goals in 6 games in the colours of Amber and Black.
