Alvechurch crashed out of the FA Trophy as Peterborough Sports scored a stoppage-time winner.
Church had put in a battling performance, especially as they had to play the last twenty minutes with ten men due to the harsh dismal of right-back Archie Brennan for hand ball.
The first half was an even affair, with Joe Slinn saving from Mark Jones; and Jordan Goddard and Javia Roberts firing off target from range. The best chance of the first half did fall to Church with Peterborough keeper Lewis Moat doing superbly to deny, first Mitch Botfield, then Kyle Perry.
The second half started with Cameron Johnson firing over for the home side but proved an even game until twenty minutes from the end. The ball bounced up and hit Brennan; with the referee deeming it a deliberate handball and a second bookable offence. This led to intense pressure from Peterborough with Slinn denying Johnson and Jamie Willets clearing Jones shot off the line.
Slinn then did superbly to tip Joshua McCammon's shot onto the post then react quickly to stop the re-bound finding the net. Despite this pressure Alvechurch nearly stuck in front; but Moat saved well from Roberts.
In the sixth minute of stoppage time Church gave away a needless free-kick; and Johnson made no mistake finally beating Slinn with a great goal to send Peterborough through to the next round.
