Redditch United 2-3 Alvechurch

Alvechurch picked up a huge three points with a brilliant display away to Redditch United.

As well as being a local derby, both these team came into the game knowing the importance off three points with Redditch bottom of the table and Alvechurch one place above them.

It was the home side who created the first chance of the game with Jamie Lucas forcing Joe Slinn into an easy save. After 15 minutes however Alvechurch took the lead. Jordan Thomas handled the ball in the box leading to a penalty. Louis Monaghan's spot kick hit the post but Aaron Birch was on hand to score the re-bound.

This led to Alvechurch taking control of the game and Joe Hull was denied by a good save from Kieran Boucher. From the resulting corner however Kyle Morrison volleyed in to double the visitors lead.

Kevin Monterio then headed a golden opportunity wide as Church ended well and truly on top. They started the second half the same; more or less sealing the win with a stunning third goal, involving Birch and Monaghan and being finished well by debutant Lewis Wright.

Redditch looked to get back into it and Thomas Ranking was denied by a great Slinn save. From a controversial corner Joshua Endall then poked in to get the home side back into the game.

Church then started to make it hard work for themselves and failed to deal with a long throw in the box allowing Brandon Diau to score. Despite a heap of pressure Alvechurch held firm however and nearly added a fourth goal through Monterio. Luckily this miss did not prove crucial as Church held on for a huge three points.
