Alvechurch 0-0 Leiston

Alvechurch managed to half a run of five straight defeats, but once again were made to rue missed chances against Leiston.

The result see's the Church slip down to second bottom in the table following other results; but they could have easily had three themselves. Leiston started off brightly with William Davis forcing Matthew Sargeant into a low save. The re-called Sargeant was then on hand to easily save from Kyle Hammond moments later.

From there Alvechurch dominated the half playing good football and seeing Taylor Morrison and Mitch Botfield have shots easily saved by Leiston keeper Samuel Donkin. Donkin was then on hand to deny a long range strike from Kevin Monterio, while Kyle Morrison headed wide from a corner.

Donkin again was able to keep Church at bay denying Nehmia Zazi with a good save; before Joe Phillips saw a dipping effort just go over the bar to end the half.

Alvechurch continued their dominance in the second-half with Morrison calling Donkin into action once more. They should have then taken the lead when, after good pressing, Kevin Monterio raced clear of goal. He saw his shot saved by Donkin before firing the re-bound over the bar despite having an open goal in front of him.

This miss nearly proved crucial as Leiston missed a sitter of their own. Ryley Scott got on the end of a superb cross at the back post and should have scored but put the ball wide.

Church continued to push for the winner with Rahis Nabi, Aaron Birch, and Zazzi all firing of target as the game ended goalless. Alvechurch welcome Tamworth to Lye Meadow on Tuesday night.
