Birmingham City U21s were the latest to fall on this final preseason weekend with goals from Harry Reilly and Miracle Okafor (penalty) getting Church over the line.

The home side had the better of the early chances, with Okafor forcing the visiting keeper into a good save on 12 minutes after latching onto a ball over the top, and two minutes later good movement from Bavanganga creates an opening for Billy Corns to drill a loose ball across the face of the six yard box for Harry Reilly to apply a decisive finishing touch from close range to open the scoring.

Another two minutes on and an exquisite cross from Sullivan is met sweetly by Stephens who arches the ball towards the top right hand corner, only for the Blues custodian to claw it to safety at full stretch.

On 19 minutes Okafor is in again but his dinked effort fails to clear the keeper.

Blues got themselves an equaliser two minutes before the break after Church found themselves penned defending in their own box, and as a cross from the right dropped in the area, McGreevy lashed it in from fifteen yards.

Church began positively after the break, and Reilly should have restored Church's lead on 50 minutes after excellent approach work from Corns but after the ball was drilled across the face if goal the Church full back sidefooted over from close in.

The lead was restored seven minutes later after Okafor was pulled back attempting to weave between two defenders, with a penalty award resulting. Okafor converted coolly low into the corner with the keeper going the opposite way.

Manny Ilesanmi rattled the Blues post in stoppage time after determinadly winning possession near the visitor's goal as Church finish the game positively.

Church could have helped themselves to a more comfortable scoreline with a little more luck and composure, but all concerned must be well contentcwith how this preparation period has panned out.
