Following more exciting developments, Alvechurch Women FC will begin their adventure at the Alvechurch Men's First-Team main ground for the course of the 2026/2027 season. The move sees all fixtures return to the ground, having spent a period of time in the 2022/2023 season there. The move signals a huge sign of positivity for the team, and something we are very much looking forward to being a part of.
The ambition, the drive for more, very much highlighted. The next chapter in our story will begin very soon and we can't wait to get going. We sure hope that our loyal supporters can also follow us on this journey and anyone across the Alvechurch village to get involved too, come down and back our girls, as we look for a much stronger turn in fortunes across the upcoming campaign.
Chris Gagg, Manager of AWFC, had this to say about the move for his side: "I think first and foremost, it shows there's a real commitment and buy-in from the top down, which is really pleasing. It was presented to us as an option, which again is really great and one I wasn't necessarily expecting. We were preparing to be at our great home at The Hayes. I believe it's really impressive, and a really good gesture. A sign of exactly the direction that this football club wants to go."
He also went on to say, "Playing at the stadium always adds to the excitement. I believe for the group it will be a great experience as well - I think the league we are heading into has more grass pitches, so playing on a grass pitch ourselves will help us. I know it will help us both on and off the pitch."
The man at the helm lastly added, "There's great sponsorship opportunities with the move to Lye Meadow. If you are a local business or company and would like to look at sponsoring, looking at billboards, you will get the Men's on a Saturday and the Women's on a Sunday. So, it's a brilliant opportunity to be involved."
We are looking forward to it and can't wait for the season to begin.
