SAFETY SECURED FOR ALVECHURCH WOMEN...

SAFETY SECURED FOR ALVECHURCH WOMEN...

Paul Hasker22 May - 23:20

A season of ups and downs finally ends with achievement.

Following the conclusion of Solihull Sporting Ladies' 4-1 defeat away at Shifnal Town Ladies, it means that Ben Davis has guided his side to a remarkable achievement. Four points from safety heading into their final two games, Sporting HAD to provide wins in both matches in order to jump above Alvechurch. A draw would have effectively relegated them but not mathematically. Had Solihull provided a draw on Thursday evening, they would have had to topple Burton Albion Women on the final day of the campaign and win by a margin of 29 goals.

Having lost to Solihull Sporting in their own final game of the season, Alvechurch have had to wait patiently since April 13th, 2025, to see if they would be playing tier five football ahead of the beginning of the 2025/2026 season. But all that anxiety and worrying can now be put to one side as they now prepare to go again in tier five of the Women's game.

This achievement must not be underestimated though. For the first time in their short history, they were promoted to tier five in the 23/24 season following an unbeaten season in tier six as well as being crowned champions of the division. So, to achieve this at the first time of asking in arguably the toughest tier five set-up in years, it is a really proud moment.

Staff and players deserve all the plaudits for their fantastic achievement in retaining their status. We can't thank them enough for everything they have given to us over the course of the 2024/2025 season. From starting the campaign with just shy of 12 players due to injuries and other reasons, to going on a run of one defeat in six games between December and January, and finishing the season, you have given everything you had.

A massive thank you to everyone who believed in us and backed us all the way, in particular the supporters, and parents, that came week in week out to support us throughout our journey in our first-ever season in tier five.

See you all again next season for another rollercoaster adventure.
