Team info

Alvechurch Ladies U16

The team started out in 2012 initially as 7 and 8 year olds under the banner of Solihull Moors.

The team didn't form together until U9s which was 5 a side only 3 of that team remain today. At U10s the team grew and this is where the real side started to take place. They did lose one player to Birmingham City where she still is playing today so the signs were good at an early age. Scott Wilkinson eventually took over coaching and managing the team after being asked by the then chairman of Solihull Moors.

At U11s the team started showing the real quality they have and slowly started adding to the team other players such as our Goalkeeper. During the next 2 seasons the club broke away from Solihull Moors and formed as Solihull sporting, It wasn’t until the football went competitive and they joined the Central Warwickshire U12s Premier Division in 2016/17 that the team became known as the side to beat. During that year the girls had an incredible season with what can only be described as breath taking. The stats read - played 21 won 21 scored 92 conceded 14 total points 63.

At the end of season 2017/18 Scott Wilkinson made the choice to leave Solihull Sporting to continue his work with Alvechurch football club in particular promoting the ladies section. The whole team incredibly made a decision to follow Scott which showed there respect for him, considering the group are all Birmingham based players, parents make the commitment to travel long distances so this talented group can stick together & develop.

2018/19 the girls made the transition to 11 aside at U14 level and that combined with the incorporation of some new players to bolster the squad, saw them start slowly that season, however once settled, the team had an amazing 2ndhalf of the season, going unbeaten, winning the Open Cup against Coventry City, reaching the final of the U15 Aces National tournament, (where league & cup winners from the whole of the UK compete to see who are National Champions) only to lose out narrowly to Derby County on penalties in the Final.

2019/2020 – The girls have stuck together and strengthened gaining 2 quality additions to the squad, and have started the season incredibly well winning their first 7 league games. This has drawn a lot of attention to the team, attracting top sponsorship from top Birmingham Law firm Clarke Wilmott & other local businesses. They have become a sister club to Birmingham city FC & now play their home games at Hadley Stadium, but with plans in place to move to a purpose built stadia & 3g pitch just outside Alvechurch.
Who knows what the future has in store for this talented group of girls with professional clubs now attending our games on a regular basis, it’s fully expected that a large number of the girls will continue and develop into the senior professional game, the togetherness and team sport they have will never leave them. They will remain friends long after they give up the game and Manager Scott Wilkinson loves every single one of them as if they were his own.
