Coming into this one, there was fresh hope and optimism for Ben Davis' side having ended their three-game winless run in the league with a comfortable 3-1 win in the end at fellow relegation-threatened Solihull Sporting, returning us to winning ways ahead of the visit of an in-form and daunting Harriers side, who have been fantastic all season. Just four points dropped this campaign, Andy Fisher's side have emerged as the favourites for the tier five title and they showed their class this afternoon.
Ruthless in attack, and solid at the back.
Story of the season for Alvechurch on an error-filled afternoon. 5 mistakes, 5 goals for Kidderminster Harriers. Handed on a plate really for the visitors. It quickly unravelled for the home team - who would have wanted to build on their confidence-boosting victory last weekend but failed to take any control or grip on this one. Credit to the Fisher's side, who are well organised and well-drilled.
A QUICK AND BRIEF RUN-THROUGH OF THE ACTION:
6 minutes: Alvechurch 0-1 Kidderminster Harriers
An unfortunate moment for the hosts. Having looked in control of the situation, one of our defenders lost her footing at the crucial moment allowing Harris to strike from the far side of the area forcing Dadson into a really smart save but Beth Gallagher followed up to smash home from close range.
11 minutes: Alvechurch 0-2 Kidderminster Harriers
From the throwing, the away side latched onto the loose ball. The goal-scorer then helped her side gain a penalty after a late challenge inside the area left the referee with no choice but to point to the spot. On the spot, ready to take was skipper Amber Lawrence, who was composed and slotted it into the bottom right-hand corner to double the lead.
HT: 0-2
48 minutes: Alvechurch 0-3 Kidderminster Harriers
After clearing the corner kick, Church failed to get out as a group quickly enough and allowed a thunderbolt from 25 yards to be hit from Lil Beth, who saw her strike cannon into the back of the net leaving Dadson with no chance as it nestled into the roof of her goal for number three.
51 minutes: Alvechurch 0-4 Kidderminster Harriers
The afternoon took a turn for the worst just six minutes into the second period as Fisher's side added to the score-line and rubbing further salt into the already open wounds. A failed clearance from the Church defence spun the wrong way and allowed Mill Rogers to hit the strike on the half volley first-time, seeing it fly past our number one, who was having a torrid time in the goal - none that she could do anything about though as the error-strewn performance was there for all to see.
85 minutes: Alvechurch 0-5 Kidderminster Harriers
The away side made it a five-star performance on the road courtesy of another mistake that opened the door. Caught napping on the ball, the home side were robbed of possession and allowed Phoebe Hill to run clear of our defence before she slotted it into the far corner to add the gloss to the score-line despite it being all Church' undoing.
FT: 0-5
A really tough afternoon for Davis' side. They need to move on quickly as they head over to the Sphinx Industrial Arena next weekend for another pivotal fixture in their fight to stay in tier five to take on Coventry Sphinx, who occupy the final relegation spot. They will be looking to open up a 12-point gap on them.
