An end to end encounter, punctuated by moments of class from Church in front of goal, and a third trophy for the season was secured in style.
Wednesfield were well worth their lead in the first half, having already threatened to punish a rather leggy looking Church defence before actually doing so on 21 minutes.
As early as the second minute a slick move from the Black Country side culminated in a close range effort from Yates that was hacked off the goalline by Wardle.
Church threatened on 9 minutes with an Ashmore cross being met by the head of March, but keeper Whitehouse reacted superbly to beat away this powerful effort on goal.
Back at the other end a chance just after the quarter hour for Wednesfield when the ball was slipped through Church’s high defensive line, and Yates squared the ball across the box for Sandland who skied the ball over from six yards out.
Church lost Parsons to injury just after, and it was not long before a goal arrived.
An attempted interception guides the ball into the path of Quarry with a clear run on goal, and he keeps his head to slide it low past Gwilliams into the corner to put the lower league side in front.
The goal seemed to spur Church into action, and a Wardle cross was turned onto the post by a Wednesfield defender, and a great run from MOM Edmunds saw him beat three men before calling on Whitehouse to save low to his left. Just after a dipping shot from the same player from the edge of the box hits the roof of the net.
Pressure was mounting, and with two minutes of the half remaining a moment of instinctive brilliance brought Church level. Great work on the left from Wardle, and as the ball is laid inside, March stretches to connect and send the ball souring high into the top right hand cornet of Whitehouse’s net, to send the sides in level at the break.
The second half was dominated by Church who stamped their authority and class on the game, seemingly getting stronger as time ticked on.
A scrappy start to the second half, but nothing scrappy about Church’s second goal on 62 minutes. Wednesfield had only half cleared another Church threat, and March lashed the ball back into the roof of the net from just outside the box. A stunning finish to set up a frantic few minutes that saw
Church score again after Edmunds was tripped in the Wednesfield box. Ashmore calmly dispatched the spot kick to register a 3-1 scoreline, and effectively game over.
Icing on the cake cane in the 88th minute when a delicious through ball from Sauane releases Edmunds through on goal, and he dinks the ball over Whitehouse to make the final score 4-1.
