With Saturday's FA Trophy match v Stratford Town clearly a priority for manager Ian Long, all 11 starters from win at Bedworth on Saturday, were given the night off, with only keeper Evans even making the bench.
With 7 starters aged 19 or younger and Ben Cassidy still only 16, it was really men against boys, with Church putting up little fight and only pulling 2 late goals back after being 5-0 down.
Ryan Boothe got the 1st after 12'. Ex Church player, Delahno Reid got the 2nd after 36'.
2-0 at the break, Church replaced Cook and Vaughan with Mahamuud and Landell, but went 3-0 down on the hour when Boothe got his second from the spot after Sargeant fouled.
In the 66' Church legend and assistant, Keith Rostill came on for Yates, looking for the 2 goals that would take the all time Church leading goal-scorer to the 250 landmark his career deserved.
But it wasn't to be. Bilston made it 4-0 after 72' when substitute Hayden Hughes somehow scored past Sargeant and made it 5-0 in the 75' with a screamer.
Church scored 2 consolation goals, when first Andre Landell scored a peach in the 81' and then Mark Smith scored a well taken effort in the 87'.
Best wishes to Bilston, who were worthy winners and play Darlaston Town in next round.
As for us, only the FA Trophy remains in our cup exploits this season and hopefully we can progress on Saturday, when a completely different Church side will take the field against Stratford Town.
