Substitute Aaron Llyod scored with his first touch to put Alvechurch into the second qualifying round at Stratford.
Ian Long's side were deserving of their win, despite not playing at their best, against a battling Stratford side who went down to ten men in the first half.
In a game of few chances, Alvechurch thought they had taken the lead after 21 minutes when Josh March headed in from a corner. However, the goal was disallowed, with the referee deeming that Stratford goalkeeper Ross Etheridge was fouled. Etheridge was then on hand to deny March saving his powerful strike.
Before half-time the game changed however, with Stratford left-back Cody Fisher being shown a red card for a high tackle on Josh Ezwele. Despite this, the second half didn't get any easier for Church, although they did nearly open the scoring early on in it; but Danny O'Callaghan fired over while March was again denied by Etheridge.
These misses nearly proved crucial as Stratford missed a golden chance to take the lead. Michael Taylor went clear on goal, but was denied by Matthew Sargeant in the Alvechurch goal.
Alvechurch did break through though. Llyod had been on the pitch a matter of minutes when he received the ball and slotted home to make it five wins in a row for Alvechurch.
They will be looking to make it six wins in a row when they take on Hitchin Town in the league next Saturday.
