After Church secured a two goal half time lead the tone of the match changed dramatically after Kieran Wakefield's second yellow card in the 67th minute, but the home side were unable to take advantage after some wasteful finishing.

The first significant action of the game sees Church go in front, with Sephton's first delivery from a corner being easily repelled, but his second was on the money as captain Pearce connects with a glancing header that loops the ball unerringly into the far top corner.

More Church threat on 11 minutes when Wragg holds off Roberts and creates a one on one opportunity, and although he is able to stab the ball past the advancing keeper Price, there is not enough pace on it to threaten the open goal, and the danger is smuggled away.

The lively Wakefield creates a chance for himself on the quarter hour after robbing Carter 35 yards out, and has a clear run on goal, but Palmer recovers well to poke the ball behind before the Churchman can get off a meaningful shot.

It's largely one way traffic, and on 33 minutes it pays off again with an error from Sporting keeper Price leading directly to a second goal for the visitors. Price's weak clearance drops the ball right at the feet of Wragg, in a central position just outside the box, and he is not going to make any mistake with the open goal beckoning, and his composed finish doubles Church's advantage.

Church weathered the inevitable early pressure from the home side at the beginning of the second half, and even had a golden chance of their own just four minutes in when Wragg ghosted in behind the Sporting defence, shot early, saw Price claw his effort aside, picked up the loose ball, and fed Wakefield on the edge of the six yard box, but the latter had his back to goal and could not quite make the turn to get a sighter on goal, and the chance dissipated.

It's a much more open game now, and became even more so after Wakefield picked up two yellow cards in the space of five minutes.

A man down, the pressure on the Church goal inevitably cranked up, bringing keeper Hollingshead to the fore. Twice he made double saves,and coupled with wasteful finishing by Sporting contributing to the feeling that this might just be Church's day.
Even when the ball smacked off the Church bar after 78 minutes, the defence recovers to smother the danger and clear the lines.

As the clock runs down, Pearce blocks another attempt deep in the Church box before Hollingshead saves one on one in stoppage time to add a final frustration to the home attack.

A third successive win for new manager Tim Flowers.
A fourth consecutive win in all competitions for Church, including the penalty shoot out win over Chasetown in the FA Trophy.
And four consecutive clean sheets says it all.

Church move up to 13th place in the table, and Bromsgrove are left in deeper trouble in the bottom four.
