Overall, the game was not of great quality.
Chances were not aplenty. A draw is probably a fair outcome.
But Church faithful were left wondering deep into stoppage time as to whether they were witnessing the eighth defeat in the last eleven, and possibly the fourth in succession, before Zac Guinan rose at the far post to head in an Ngandu corner from close range.
It had begun brightly enough for Church, and in a dour first half, the home side had had the better of any chances on offer.
On 10 minutes a Guinan knock down opens up a sight of goal for Obedeyi and from fifteen yards out he rifles the ball over. On the quarter hour Sullivan arrows a shot from 20 yards, forcing keeper Bradbrook into a smart save after an initial effort from Wakefield had been blocked.
The game drifts somewhat from that point, and fails to ignite really until the visitors find an opening goal on 71 minutes. Ingram cuts in from the left, and shoots powerfully across Evans. The Church keeper gets a strong hand to the ball, attempting to push it wide of the far post, but it hold up in the muddy goalmouth, allowing Neal to pounce at the far post to turn the ball in from very close range.
It’s a sting in the tail for Church, and as the minutes tick down it looks like a terminal one.
Step up the impressive Guinan, who had worked the Needham back four all afternoon; rising highest at the far post to meet the Ngandu corner he steers the ball in from close range to claim a precious point for the home side.
