Goals from Josh March and Aaron Llyod earned Alvechurch their first win in four games, as they defeated Barwell.
Following consecutive defeats to Corby Town and Kettering Tow, manager Ian Long made two changes to last week's side bringing in teenagers Theo Llewellyn and Taylor Morrison for Tom Turton and Kieran Cook; and saw his side make a good start, with Joshua Ezwele firing into the side netting.
The game then became a midfield battle, with both side's struggling to create chances. However, Church keeper Matthew Sargeant was on hand to deny Brady Hickey while Danny O'Callaghan was denied by Liam Castle.
Eventually it was Church who took the lead though. A well work corner led to O'Callaghan being denied again, before March put the re-bound in to give them a half-time lead.
Barwell looked to start the second half quickly, with Sargeant making a good save from Eliot Putman. This save proved crucial, as the visitors then doubled their lead. March's clever dummy led to the ball rolling to Aaron Llyod who calmly slotted in his second goal of the season.
Once again, Barwell looked for an instant reply but Lee Hildreth's shot hit the post, with Putman trapping the ball in his feet with the goal at his mercy. Putman would make no mistake soon after however, when he was on hand to turn in the re-bound after Massiah McDonald had hit the post.
Barwell then pushed forward looking for the equaliser, but were unable to break through the Church back-line, as they held on for a first league away win of the season to climb up to 8th in the table, two points off the play-off places.
Alvechurch play again on Tuesday in cup action against Highgate United at Lye Meadow.
