Alvechurch made it three league wins in a row, with a victory over Bedworth United at the Oval ground.
The last time these two sides met it was a historic occasion for Alvechurch, with a 0-0 draw sealing promotion to step three football. Bedworth would follow them through the play-off’s, but both have made contrasting starts the season; with Bedworth bottom of the table and Alvechurch sixth.
However, a four minute spell brought goals from Dave Bellis and Mitch Botfield to seal the win for Church. Manager Ian Long named Yusifu Ceesay in the starting eleven, after his return on loan from Blackpool, but saw his side struggle early on with former Alvechurch striker Daniel Dubidat missing a good chance and Jake Whitemore firing home for the visitors.
Despite this though, they grew into the game with Aaron Llyod firing wide; before then more or less sealing the game just before the half hour mark. Josh March's cut back found Bellis just inside the box, with the midfielder firing into the bottom corner. Minutes later a good team move led to Zack Foster crossing to Botfield who headed in his third goal in as many games.
This spell more or less killed the game, with the visitors controlling the game and there not being many chances from there. March was denied by Bedworth keeper Adam Harrison, while Church keeper Paul Evans saved well Luke Rowe. Bedworth also hit the post; but couldn't find a goal and remain winless this season.
Alvechurch however, continue to push up the league, moving into the play-off places above Coalville Town. However, there attention now turns to cup competition, with an away game against Bilston Town on Wednesday before facing Stratford Town in the FA trophy.
