Kyle Morrison’s header earned Alvechurch a fourth win in five games in an entertaining game against St Neots.
Alvechurch made the perfect start to the game. Kieron Cook scored with his first touch last week and carried on his good form by scoring after five minutes. This looked to have opened some floodgates for the home side as St Neots keeper Harry Reynolds had to deny Yusiuf Ceesay, Jamie Willets, and Dave Bellis in an action-packed half.
Having survived this scare the visitors grew into the game and Charlie Price had to be on hand to deny Nabil Shariff and Devante Stanley. Mitch Botfield then hit the post twice, first with a 25-yard effort and then the second moments later in the box.
This proved a turning point as just after this St Neots equalised. Like Botfield Tom Wood tired his luck from 25 yards out but found the net. Kyle Morrison’s back-pass was then intercepted by Shariff who put them ahead at the interval.
Just like they did in the first-half Alvechurch started the second half quickly and equalised after just two minutes. Zack Fosters long pass found Cook, who brought the ball down brilliantly and slotted home his second of the game.
From a corner Morrison then beat everyone in the air at a corner to restore Alvechurch’s lead. Alvechurch thought that they had sealed the win when Tom Turton fired the ball in, but the linesman flagged it for an offside agaisnt Andre Landell. The final few minutes saw the away side bombard the Alvechurch box with long throw-ins, but the home side held on for the three points.
