Church score three to move into play-off places.

Alvechurch moved into the play-off places with a victory over bottom side Bedworth United.

Having not played for two weeks due to postponed fixtures, Church put in a professional display to secure the three points thanks to a Tom Turton penalty, a Kieran Cook goal and Taylor Morrison's first goal for the club.

The first half saw plenty of chances for both side's with Montel Gibson firing wide for the visitors; before Kieran Cook followed suit in firing off target for Church. Andre Landell was then denied by James Fogg from a corner, while Dan Crane was on hand to deny Alex Troke.

Half-an-hour into the game Alvechurch took the lead however. Josh March made a strong run into the box, resulting in him being fouled by Elliot Parrott for a penalty. Turton stepped up and sent Fogg the wrong way to score. In the side's previous meeting's Church scored two goals in four minutes to secure a 2-0 win and they repeated this feat here, when Kieran Cook tapped home four minutes after the opener following another strong run from March.

These two goals boosted the home side and they looked for a third before half-time; but Landell could only fire miles over from the edge of the box.

The second-half proved to be a struggle for the home side; especially the opening 15 minutes which saw Bedworth create some chances. Firstly, Reece Blackmore headed over the bar, before Gibson and Chekaine Steele both fired just wide of the post.

However, Morrison sealed the win with twenty minutes remaining, scoring a superb goal after a strong run into the box. Landell then headed over the bar; before the referee blew the final whistle.

The win means that Ian Long's side are now unbeaten in six games, and they will look to extend this run when they welcome play-off rivals Biggleswade Town to Lye Meadow next week.
