Kieran Cook's ninth goal of the season earned Alvechurch a deserved draw against play-off rivals AFC Rushden and Diamonds.
Ian Long's side were looking to bounce back from last week's defeat to Leiston, but made the worse possible start when Samuel Johnson took advantage of a defensive mistake and fired past Daniel Crane within the first two minutes.
Despite this setback, Church dominated the ball playing good stuff and created half chances through Aaron Llyod and Mitch Botfield; but neither could find the net. Their best chances of the first half however fell to Cook, who saw his shot cleared off the line by Zack Reynolds and forced a save from Ben Heath after a strong run into the home side's box.
The second half saw both team create chances early on; with Josh March volleying wide from range, while Ben Diamond fired wide for the hosts. Eventually though, Church equalised through Cook whose curled finish completed a good passing move.
With the scores level both side's pushed for a winner, with March forcing a save from Heath and Crane needing to be on hand to deny Nathan Hicks after some good skill. With little time on the clock Church formed another good move but Cook was unable to beat Heath for a second time resulting in an entertaining draw.
The result keeps Alvechurch outside the play-off places, and they will be hoping to pick up three huge points against Lowestoft Town next week.
