Alvechurch claimed their first point of the season, by drawing with Barwell; who also got off the mark for the season.
Both sides came into the game on the back of opening day defeats and Church quickly looked to put Saturday's defeat to Royston behind them; taking the lead after two minutes through a Kyle Rowley header.
It was the dream start for Darren Byfield's side but the visitors responded quickly and were level just five minutes later. Brady Hickey's shot deflected through to Jamie Towers and he poked the ball past Alvechurch keeper Niall Clayton.
This led to both sides looking to re-take the lead; with Josh Ezewele firing over and Javia Roberts being denied by Barwell keeper Andrew Wycherley. In response Barwell right-back Jacob Whitmore fired wide from the edge of the box before Barwell took the lead.
Hickey, who scored a brace at Lye Meadow in March, ghosted in un-marked to head in his first goal of the season. Kyle Morrison then had to clear Omotolani Omotala's shot off the line, before Church were denied a blatant penalty after Ezewele was tripped inside the box following a good run.
A few minutes later Ezewele made another strong run into the box which lead to his cross/shot deflecting into the net to level the game at half-time.
Barwell created the first few chances of the second half with Omotala and Samuel Hollis forcing saves from Clayton, while John Atherton was denied by Wycherley following a great run in which he beat three players.
The game then turned quite sloppy with Church dealing with Barwell's lofted high-balls without being able to create much themselves. Substitute Ryan Nesbitt fired wide from the edge of the box but the game ended in a draw.
Alvechurch will be looking for their first win of the season when they host Hitchin Town on Saturday.
