Two goals in four second-half minutes gave Redditch United the win, as Alvechurch fell to a second consecutive defeat.
On a bright sunny day both side’s played good football in the first half but could not create any real chances. Former Alvechurch man Connor Deards was unable to make contact with a low cross; while Jake Newell fired wide from range.
Alvechurch ended the half well though creating a number of chances. Defenders Jamie Willets and Kyle Rowley headed over the bar, while Ben Usher-Shipway and Jordan Goddard forced good saves from Redditch keeper Kieran Boucher.
Despite ending the half strongly Alvechurch found themselves behind after two minutes of the second-half. Rhys Hilton picked up the ball, beat two players and fired home a great goal to break the deadlock. Two minutes later and they had doubled their lead with Callum Coyle firing in.
Alvechurch were rocked and it took them a while to get their rhythm back. Substitute Lewis Archer forced a save from Boucher with a header, and then saw another shot save by the Redditch keeper. Ryan Nesbitt then fired high and wide; while Church keeper Llyod Ransome was on hand to deny Reece Chisholm getting the visitors third.
However, Church could not salvage anything back again being punished after not taking their own chances; as they were on Saturday. Manager Darren Byfield will hope for a better result next week away to Leiston.
