4 changes from the starting line-up that drew at Tamworth last week.
Making his debut, Tom Solanke came in for Jack Hallahan. Returning to Halifax after his loan ended, Sam McLintock was replaced by Dave Bellis. Replacing Ryan Nesbitt, who has decided to return to Bedworth United, was Danny Waldron, and starting instead of Birmingham City loanee was Tyrell Hamilton, who was returning from injury.
Church got off to a dream start when Tyrell Hamilton scored after 7', but despite dominating possession and being denied a strong shout for a penalty when Barwell keeper clattered Hamilton, it was only the one goal that separated the sides at half time.
A rush of blood to the head from Church keeper Jezeph after 51', saw him rush out to challenge ex Church striker Tristan Dunkley by the touchline, but never getting the ball the stranded keeper saw Dunkley's shot/come cross find the back of the net to level the scores.
Despite continuing to dominate, Church were denied a winner when Nick Clayton-Phillips was judged offside after heading past man of the match Max Bramley in the Barwell goal and could not get the winner that their dominance deserved.
With only one other game played due to the weather, once again, Church lost the opportunity to go back into the play-off spot and remain a point behind AFC Rushden & Diamonds, who now have 3 games in hand.
With only 8 games to play and form team Rushall Olympic visiting Lye Meadow next week, it's going to take a rich vein of form to clinch a play-off spot. But with only 1 win in the last 11 games, it's more like relegation form at the moment. It's not that the team are not playing well, but mistakes are being punished and the inability to finish teams off, are costing us valuable points.
